Day 1 – Athens Arrival at the hotel - briefing Dinner at a traditional tavern Day 2 – Athens Explore the city of Athens with the local tour leader passing on the most famous monuments and sites like the ancient Greek and Roman Agora, the martial hill. Meet with your licensed tour guide for an insight-guided tour up to the sacred hill of the Acropolis. Afternoon free Day 3 - Nafplio Driving with a private coach for a 2,5 h ride via Corinth Canal (short stop there for pictures and repose). Our destination is Nafplio town the first Capital of modern Greece. Nafplio is a small medieval town with beautiful castles and fortresses like Bourtzi and Pallamidi. Dinner and overnight Day 4 – Nafplio – Sparta – Gythio Depart after breakfast in 1,40h bus ride to Sparta the famous town with rich history and beautiful landscape. Sparta is also famous for its olive oil one of the most valuable National products of Greece and the main ingredient of Mediterranean cuisine. Have a short stop for a unique tour of the Greek Olive oil museum. Then continue for another 40-minute ride to Githion the beautiful seaside town built amphitheatrically and constructed on the hill slopes around a natural bay. Overnight Day 5 – Gythio Gythio is a beautiful port town with a long promenade, stoned paved streets many taverns, and cafes. It also has the beautiful islet of Kranae the trademark of Gythio according to Homer’s Iliad where Paris the Trojan prince and Belle Helene stayed one night on their way to Troy and the next morning he forgot his helmet (Kranae) where its name came from. Depart after breakfast on a half-day tour to the magnificent Diros caves and explore the peculiar geological shapes and the stalactites and stalagmites which were created millions of years ago. Visit the Oitilo village and have included lunch in a traditional tavern by the sea. Lunch and overnight Day 6 – Gythio – Olympia Depart after breakfast to Olympia on a 4hrs passing through the most iconic and traditional places of Mani peninsula. Our destination is the famous archaeological sites of Olympia where in 776 BC has been recorded the first Athletic event that humanity nowadays celebrates as the Olympic Games. Dinner and overnight Day 7 – Olympia – Delphi Have a guided tour of the famous archaeological sites of Olympia. On our way to Delphi, we can also have a stop at the beautiful coastal village of Itea for honey tasting. Later depart to Delphi on a 3,30h ride to one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. Delphi was regarded as the center of the ancient world. The sanctuary of Delphi which had the most famous oracle of Greece is set within a most spectacular landscape and was for many centuries the cultural and religious center and symbol of unity for the Hellenic world. Dinner and overnight Day 8 – Delphi After breakfast experience a guided tour at Delphi the famous oracle of ancient Greece, and one of the UNESCO Protected Archaeological sites of the world’s heritage. Overnight Day 9 – Delphi – Athens Depart for Athens via Arachova in a 15min ride (short stop to the picturesque village for a coffee). Then continue to a 2,30h ride back to Athens.
